It is with deep regret that I wish to advise of the sudden death of former Warringah Rugby Club Director, Selector and Coach, Mr. Ian Felton.

Ian began his sporting career playing with both the Manly Cricket and Rugby Clubs before moving to Mona Vale where he quickly became involved with the Warringah Rats having held the positions of Head Selector, Club Director, Director of Rugby and Coach. In 2004 he coached Warringah Third Grade to victory in a Grand Final against West Harbour, a feat he achieved many years earlier when he was coaching at Manly.

Upon his retirement Ian and his wife, Gwenda moved to Tea Gardens on the Mid North Coast of NSW and once again he became involved in community rugby, coaching the newly established Myall Coast Rugby to a premiership and then going on to become a Director of the Mid North Coast Rugby.

On behalf of Warringah Rugby Club and the wider rugby community we wish to pay our condolences to Ian’s wife and family.

  3. Yesterday was the 12 month anniversary of Ians death. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts for our family yesterday. We all love and miss him very much and wish he was still with us. I am so grateful to my wonderful sons, daughter-in-law Miranda, grandchildren,close friends and Ians brothers and their families for always being there for me. Thank you. Gwenda
